International Stem Cell Day

Since their discovery, stem cells have revolutionised our understanding of the human body, its development, and the treatment of diseases that affect it. Every year, SPCE-TC marks International Stem Cell Day in partnership with Ciência Viva – the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture – through educational activities aimed at schools and the general public.

These initiatives take place during a period that always includes the second Wednesday of October, the date on which International Stem Cell Day is celebrated. Throughout the programme, the latest advances in stem cell research and their applications are presented and discussed, covering diverse goals such as heart regeneration, cancer treatment, the development of new food sources, and innovation in regenerative medicine.
