Stem Cell Engineering Research Group

Group Leader Cláudia Alexandra Martins Lobato da Silva

I have developed my research activities in the field of Stem Cell Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine, with a particular emphasis on the ex-vivo expansion of human stem/progenitor cells, namely hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells and mesenchymal stromal cells, and aiming at innovating the clinical manufacturing of cell-based therapies. I lead the Focus Area “Development and Manufacturing of Cellular & Molecular Therapies” within the Stem Cell Engineering Research Group (SCERG) at iBB – Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences and is the PI of the “Modulation of the Stem Cell Niche” lab. My research is developed within the thematic line TL2- Advanced Diagnostics and Therapies of the Associate Laboratory i4HB, a strategic partnership between three leading research units in the Portuguese Research & Development landscape iBB, INESC-MN and UCIBIO.
