Ana Cristina Rego (PhD) is Associate Prof. with Aggregation at the Fac. Medicine-UC and head of ‘Mitochondria and Neurodegenerative Disorders’ group at CNC-UC and CIBB. AC Rego Lab identified early mitochondrial and redox changes linked to glutamatergic synapses in Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s diseases. She published over 140 papers in journals such as J.Neurosci, FRBM, ARS, NBA, Redox Biol, Aging Cell, Theranostics. She has mentored 13 post-doctoral researchers, 6 Assistant researchers, 20 PhDs and 55 MSc students. She coordinated 29 competitive grants and participated in 21 others. Member of the Board of CNC-UC in 2019-20 and 2023-25. Member of the ERA-Chair and ERAatUC team, ERC-Synergy Panel Member, and President of Portuguese Society for Neuroscience (SPN, 2019-2023). Elected member of FENS Forum 2024 Programme Committee and Vice-President of Portuguese Brain Council (2017-2024).
