International Stem Cell Day, celebrated annually on the second Wednesday of October, aims to promote education and awareness about the importance of stem cells, their research, and therapeutic applications through educational activities targeted at schools and the general public.
The Portuguese Society for Stem Cells and Cell Therapy (SPCE-TC), in collaboration with Ciência Viva – National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture, is preparing several special activities to mark this important day. The initiatives, which will include lectures, workshops, and online meetings, will provide a space for dialogue between researchers, healthcare professionals, and the general public. The goal is to enhance understanding of stem cells, their therapeutic potential, and the challenges of research in this field.
